I work in both 2-D and 3-D. I am inclined to work in one
style for a period of time and then switch to another. I
make mixed media paintings, assemblages with ordinary objects,
small works on paper using repetitive text and quirky character illustrations. Most of
the work is fueled by curiosity and purpose. Creating for
me is about surrendering to the process; I like to investigate
the tension between working and reworking materials. I think
my work often suggests an element of contrasting appearances.
Some of my pieces start with an idea but most just evolve,
allowing my instinct to take it one way or another.
A common element in my work is based not around a particular
aesthetic, but rather represents an obsession with the process
and a desire to test my limits. Art is a vehicle that allows
me to communicate and to learn more about myself.
